If you haven’t already seen the most recent issue of Boston Home Magazine, do not delay! As per usual, it’s chock-full of beautiful local interiors. And what makes this issue so extra special to us? We’re the designers behind the “More or Less” feature (pages 24 and 25)!

The challenge: design a bedroom with the same look, two ways; one extravagant, one affordable.

Our goal: only sourcing furnishings from local stores… nothing big box. We knew this would be an extra challenge in terms of finding big price point differences, but we feel so strongly about supporting locally owned businesses that we knew we could do it if we put our minds to it. We wanted to show that it is possible to find beautiful, affordable pieces in your local shops.

The hardest part: deciding on a color story. We admire so many different looks from calm and serene to bright and cheerful. Typically we’re steered in a direction based on our clients’ likes and dislikes, but having full range for this project made it a bit trickier.

Our favorite part: getting to source pieces from our favorite shops as well as meeting other shop owners we hadn’t yet gotten to know. It was also lots of fun to see the rooms come together in such a short amount of time. It’s the closest we’ve come to instant gratification in designing a space.

To find out the source for each piece stop into the shop and grab an issue, pick one up on the news stands, and/or check out Boston Home’s website.
